What is the Division of Professional Learning?
The Division of Professional Learning (DPL) is a provider of professional development for school teachers and the education community, and social and policy workers. We work from within the Faculty of Education and Social Work at the University of Sydney, and are an endorsed provider of Institute Registered Continuing Professional Development with the NSW Institute of Teachers. The DPL works with a wealth of academic specialists who develop our programs and present on a wide variety of education and social work areas. Many of our courses have clear pathways to accreditation, articulating directly with the postgraduate programs of the wider Faculty. Our objective is to facilitate the exploration and dissemination of new knowledge and ideas. With our participants, we want to develop fresh perspectives that will challenge us intellectually, professionally and personally, and lead to more enriched and effective practice in our various workplaces. |

About our Director
As Director of the DPL, I work with a team of coordinators and lecturers to provide professional learning opportunities for people who would like to keep up-to-date with new innovations in teaching and learning and social work practices. I am passionate about forming partnerships and collaborations with people and organisations (local, regional and international) that result in win-win outcomes. I believe that when you share knowledge, it increases a thousand fold; and then, there is so much more to go around. My research interests revolve around issues of inclusion, diversity, professional development, international education and distance education. The DPL hosts many conferences, workshops and courses highlighting topics of interest in both education and social work. Our support networks extend far and wide and we contribute to debates and knowledge dissemination at a global level. I get a real buzz when our students and program participants have learning experiences that make their hearts sing that to me, makes it all worthwhile. |
