Overview
This seminar will draw on ideas and practice tools developed to assist participants to research, evaluate and improve their own practice. Critical reflection enhances a practitioner's ability to move beyond managerially imposed performance indicators to scrutinise their own practice in relation to personal and professional values and commitments. Teachers and social workers can use these tools to enhance direct practice, teamwork, service development, professional supervision and student education.
Following an introduction to key ideas about critical reflection, participants will be asked to reflect in small groups on a critical practice experience in order to reflect on the multiple layers of complexity in their practice and the assumptions underpinning their work.
