Overview
What are the key issues challenging middle schooling? This one-day workshop will focus on the questions identified in current research. Strategies for dealing with these issues will be explored, based on research and the presenter’s experience from the AGQTP and the MYAR projects. Topics will address:
- learning needs and effective learning strategies with middle years learners
- research on problems of middle school learners and strategies to deal with these
- how other schools have learnt and implemented in relation to middle schooling
- behaviour and classroom management of middle years students
- research in relation to brain growth and its implications for learning and teaching in middle school years.
Participants will be invited to present examples/documentation from their own context to address transition and other middle school issues.
