Many of us remember when children loved writing. But has this excitement for writing been lost as we focus on text types, state-wide testing, timetabling pressures and an electronic world where SMS and e-mail discourage reflection, editing or refining?
Teaching Writing Within a Balanced Literacy Program invites participants to reflect on how writing is taught in their classrooms and to see how students’ excitement for writing can be reignited.
During the workshop participants will:
- explore concepts of audience and purpose
- revisit the writing process, text types, skills and strategies for writing, and
- discuss organisational strategies and links with integrated units.
