Science in the Middle School: Challenges and Opportunities

This introductory program aims to examine and develop scientific content, contexts and pedagogy related to the NSW curriculum by

  • helping make science lessons relevant and current for teenagers today
  • investigating teaching approaches that cater for all students, and
  • developing ideas for integrating science into a wider curriculum.


About the Presenter
Alexandra Hugman is a joint appointment between the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Education and Social Work at the University of Sydney. She has worked in science education as a secondary teacher and university lecturer and has actively contributed to the professional development of secondary teachers through workshop presentations and journal articles in the UK and Australia. Alexandra is also Director of UniServe Science, an online resource for science teachers.
