PowerPoint for Student-centred Learning

The course will introduce participants to various approaches that may be used to produce student-centred learning packages by using the simple multimedia authoring tool, PowerPoint. The content will include:

• Learning theories and design of multimedia learning
  * Behaviourism – drill and practice, multiple choice questions
  * Constructivism – problem solving
• Design of a student-centred learning package
  * Cognitive load theory/multimedia learning theory
  * Technical aspects of PowerPoint
• Producing a student-centred learning package.

The course will include formal presentations, discussion and practical sessions, and online discussion forums.
