Teaching Reading within a Balanced Literacy Program

Friday 30 May 2008 9am–4pm

This course invites primary school teachers K–6 to reflect on current practices – to question why they do what they do and to see how they can reinvigorate the teaching of reading within an integrated program.

During the workshop participants will:

  • identify critical ingredients in a successful literacy program
  • discuss organisational strategies and links with integrated units
  • focus on guided reading, and
  • explore the notion of literacy centres and independent literacy activities.
