Values Education
Implicit and Explicit Teaching in the Secondary Setting
Monday 17 March 2008, 25pm
Values education is mandatory in schools, but is poorly supported in provision of resources and professional understanding. It can include any explicit or implicit activity that promotes student knowledge of values and develops particular skills.
Through guided group discussion, presentations and group activities, course participants will acquire knowledge and understanding of the nature of global values education, and practical strategies for curriculum integration.
Following a brief interactive interrogation of the principles of the National Framework for Values Education, participants will explore applications across curriculum areas. A case study school will be considered, simulation games will be profiled and different schools’ approaches to global values leadership for senior students will be explored.
