Teaching Writing Within a Balanced Literacy Program

Friday 14 August 2009 9am–4pm

This course invites participants to reflect on how writing is taught in their classrooms and to see how students' excitement for writing can be ignited. During the workshop participants will:

  • explore concepts of audience and purpose
  • revisit the writing process, text types, skills and strategies for writing, and
  • discuss organisational strategies and links with integrated units.

Presenter
Robyn Wild has worked for the NSW Department of Education and Training as a classroom teacher, assistant principal, literacy consultant and senior curriculum officer in the Early Learning Unit. She works part-time at Macquarie University in the Education Faculty and the Institute of Early Childhood and at the University of Sydney.
