Professional Development Workshops
Bell Shakespeare Education provides teaching professionals with fresh ideas and innovative methods of approaching Shakespeare texts in English and Drama classrooms facilitated by Arts Educators who are professional actors and directors keen to share their knowledge and passion for Shakespeare with teachers and practitioners.
The Professional Development Program is a practical activity-based program introducing teachers to theatrical approaches to Shakespeare, and developing teaching ideas and interactive methods for:
- interpreting Shakespeare's text
- enabling students to actively respond to Shakespeare
- working with the metre
- discovering characters through the script
- approaching action through Shakespeare's hidden stage directions
- developing scenes
- presenting and considering Shakespeare as theatre.

These workshops will give teachers and practitioners key activities for introducing the plays including activities for leading students through the plot, language and dramatic techniques concealed in the text. Activities presented give insight into approaches used by the acting company as they explore and interpret Shakespeare's text. These practical devices can be applied across any of Shakespeare's plays. Fee: $150 per person (incl. GST) Includes light lunch and Certificate of Attendance |

Bell Shakespeare Education is a NSW Institute of Teachers endorsed provider of professional development for the maintenance and accreditation at Professional Competence in English and Drama.
The Division of Professional Learning (DPL), Faculty of Education and Social Work, University of Sydney has entered into a partnership with Bell Shakespeare Education Professional Development. This agreement means that the 2009 Bell Shakespeare Education Professional Development will be presented in partnership with the DPL and will entitle all participants to receive professional development accreditation from the Faculty of Education and Social Work.
