Primary Music Education Workshop

Professional Development for School Teachers and the Education Community

2.5 hour workshop delivered at your school and at a time suited to your timetable

These workshops for primary school teachers are filled with useful and fun activities based around the requirements of the Music component of the NSW Creative Arts syllabus. They use a variety of resources readily available in schools, including the ABC Sing! Book and the Teachers' Handbook. We also use a lot of environmental percussion so there is no need for expensive equipment.

All activities are based around the musical concepts of pitch, duration, structure, dynamics and tone colour as well as the musical skills of vocalising, playing, moving, listening and composing.

Activities include singing, dancing, games, and learning how to create music – from the simplest steps and building to the more complex. Chants and raps, songs, instrumental music and some dance elements can be included at your request.

The workshop is suitable for both experienced and inexperienced teachers and is accessible to all. All activities have been enjoyed by children in the classroom and work well. Comprehensive notes are provided covering all aspects of the workshop, including each activity’s relationship to the musical concepts and skills.
